2017中考英語(yǔ)閱讀理解訓(xùn)練:a traffic police officer
閱讀短文,并回答文后的問(wèn)題。
Mark Hill is a traffic police officer(交通警察)in Watford, near London. He works on some of the busiest motorways in Britain, the M1and the M25.
“There are traffic police on duty twen-ty-four hours a day. There are three shifts(輪班),and each shift is eight hours. On average(按平均數(shù))we have to deal with three to four accidents each shift.”
“We deal with anyone in the accident who is injured(受傷)。That's the first thing. Then we have to clear the road and get the traffic moving again.”
“Most accidents happen because people drive too fast—especially(特別)when the roads are wet.Sometimes accidents happen because drivers don't follow the rules. For example,I've seen a number of cases(案件)of drivers overtaking(超車)on the left. This is illegal(違法的)in Britain. If you want to overtake, you have to go into the fast lane(車道)on the right.”
“I like my job.I have a varied(各種各樣的)working day—I never know what I'm going to do from one day to the next. And I meet all kinds of people.I don't think any other job can give you special experience(經(jīng)歷)like that.”
