PET由三部分試題組成：閱讀與寫作、聽力、口試。閱讀與寫作占診斷總分的50%。聽力、口試各占總分的25%。

閱讀與寫作（試題1）時(shí)間：1小時(shí)30分鐘閱讀-要求考生理解公共場合的通知，符號或標(biāo)記。能讀懂事實(shí)性短篇文章，并提取信息。能說明語言結(jié)構(gòu)，作者意圖及文章可能對讀者產(chǎn)生的影響。寫作-要求考生完成句型轉(zhuǎn)換、填充表格、提供信息、報(bào)告事件、描述情境，表達(dá)觀點(diǎn)等任務(wù)。

聽力（試題2）時(shí)間：30分鐘要求考生能聽懂公共通告并做出回應(yīng)，理解對話，提取事實(shí)性信息，了解說話者態(tài)度。

口試（試題3）時(shí)間：10-12分鐘考核考生在交流過程中參與、理解問題與任務(wù)及恰當(dāng)回復(fù)的能力�？忌鷥扇艘唤M診斷。
